About Us
Don Carlson
Don has spent his career in the spaces where law, markets, and ideas overlap. He was Chief Knowledge Officer at Goldman Sachs during the early 2000s, then Chief of Staff for its legal division. He headed the Tsai Leadership Program at Yale Law School, chaired the Political Economy program at Williams College, and has spent 25 years as a venture capital investor with a focus on sustainable businesses. Earlier, he served as Legislative Director and Chief Counsel to Congressman Joseph P. Kennedy II, and clerked on the First Circuit. At Harvard Law, he worked closely with his mentor Roger Fisher, the author of Getting to Yes, a best-selling text on principled negotiation. He and Dylan are both Williams College political economy graduates and Eagle Scouts.
Don is an avid sailor, cyclist, and hiker - and a brand new grandfather - based in Jamestown, Rhode Island.
Dylan Mealey
Dylan is a recent graduate of Williams College, where he studied political economy and played club water polo and volleyball. While studying abroad in England, he wrote dissertations on universal national service and universal basic income, which helped provide some of the research for this work. For the past several years, he has worked at a renewable energy development firm and has worked with Don on evaluating venture capital investments in sustainable industries. He met Don several years ago when Dylan reached out for career advice. They soon realized their shared interests as Williams political economy graduates and Eagle Scouts who believe democratic capitalism is worth saving.
